First time rider among those celebrating completing annual charity bike ride

This group of about 125 cyclists raised $130,000 through participating in the 17th annual Central South Island Charity Bike Ride.
“There have been Sunday rides, every second week, then weekly after Christmas.
“I haven’t done much cycling, it was new to us both, we both had to go and buy bikes.
“It was a big challenge!
“Doing that amount of kilometres in three days, I’ve got a sore butt and sore neck.”

The furthest Mitch, a member of the TBHS cycling team, had pedalled was 122kms during one of the charity bike ride’s group training sessions.
He had also completed “a dozen or so” 100km rides, so his main challenge when the ride rolled around would be doing that distance three days in a row.
