Tamil Nadu state board schools in fix over stream allotment for Class XI students

Express News Service
CHENNAI: Schools are in a fix about how to let State board students, who were recently promoted from class 10, to pick streams in class 11 as year-end examinations have been cancelled. While the decision was made last year based on the internal performance of the students (quarterly and half yearly exams), a systemic way eludes many school heads this year. They are waiting for the government to clear the air.
P Vijayalakshmi, the principal of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam said that students will be allotted streams based on their preferences. "We anyway do not make all decisions based on marks, but we base it on student interests. But if a student’s teacher feels that they cannot do well in a given stream, then we’ll discuss with the student and parents," she said.

Private schools defer offline classes for online exam plan | Ranchi News

Ranchi/Bokaro: While the state government has allowed the reopening of schools for Classes VIII, IX and XI from Monday, many private institutes remained closed as teachers and students are busy with online examinations and the difficulty in implementing on-campus Covid-19 safety rules. In Ranchi, management of schools like DPS (Ranchi), JVM Shyamli, Seventh Day Adventist and Oxford Public School will resume in-person classes from the next session in April.
DPS principal Dr Ram Singh said it was not possible to call students to campus as they are busy taking their annual exams online. “We will call them for the new session starting in April. We have enough space to ensure social distancing as lower classes have not been allowed to reopen. We also have adequate manpower to maintain other safety norms.”

New Delhi [India], February 27 (ANI/Mediawire): The Grand Finale of the Times Inter-School Quiz Competition 2020 was a display of sheer perseverance, effort and intelligence which shone through the performances of all the 12 top participants from both the senior and junior categories.
The pandemic that initially came across as a challenge, could not suppress the enthusiasm of the young scholars or the organizers, leading the semi-finals followed by the final to be a grand success. To add to the grandeur, celebrity Quizmaster Gautam Bose amazingly presented the quiz and engaged all the participants to mind-boggle as the event progressed, inspite of the medium of conduction being a virtual platform.
