On April 11, SEMI Europe has won up to EUR 4 million in funding to develop the European Chips Skills Academy, an initiative to help tackle the skills and talent shortages in Europe's electronics industry and propel its long-term growth. Samsung Electronics recently announced the implementation of an "artificial" production cut in memory chips. The Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) announced that the domestic and foreign sales of Japan's semiconductor equipment have declined for five consecutive months through February 2023. It is also the second month in a row where sales have fallen below JPY300 billion (US$2.3 billion). Although power semiconductor demand is strong, it is unable to compensate for the sharp decline in memory demand, which has caused manufacturers to tighten their investments.
