'You can see a scenario where this could get worse,' Iowa ag secretary Mike Naig says
Iowa ag officials announced the state’s seventh bird flu case: A commercial flock of about 250,000 young hens in Franklin County.
The outbreaks in Hamilton and Guthrie Counties impact over 1.5 million birds, bringing the total birds killed in Iowa to 8 million from nine total outbreaks.
One of the outbreaks was in a laying hen facility with 1.5 million birds. The other was in an operation with 28,000 turkeys.
The virus can wipe out a flock within 48 hours. Here's what to know about Buena Vista County's third outbreak.
