SUMAN scheme launched in Kiphire - Eastern Mirror

Dimapur, Oct. 25 (EMN): The chief medical officer (CMO) of Kiphire, Dr. Chubala Aier, launched the Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) scheme in the conference hall of District Hospital, Kiphire, on October 25. Speaking at the launch event, Dr. Chubala stated that SUMAN scheme is a significant initiative that aims at providing dignified and quality healthcare services to every woman and newborn visiting a facility. She stated that the scheme was an initiative by the government of India to put an end to preventable maternal and newborn deaths in the country, stated an update from the CMO’s office. While urging the gathering to disseminate awareness of the scheme to the communities, Dr. Chubala called upon the medical department to coordinate with other line departments to ensure successful implementation of the scheme. “All of us are involved in this and everyone should work together that this scheme would be a success in our district,” she said. Nagaland: Newborn care unit inaugurated in Kiphire

Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): The chief medical officer (CMO) of Kiphire, Dr. R Chubala Aier, inaugurated a Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at District Hospital, Kiphire, on September 21. Speaking at the inaugural programme, Dr. Chubala Aier, conveyed appreciation to Dr. Longri Kichu, UNICEF consultant, and hospital staff for their efforts to make SNCU operational in the district. She also thanked the Health department for providing the infrastructure and manpower, stated an update from the CMO’s office. Stating that SNCU would greatly benefit the people of Kiphire, Dr. Chubala Aier urged everyone to continuously work towards improvement of the unit. Mentioning that the government and department have done their part, she said it is the duty of the district now to use the facility to its optimum and reduce infant mortality in the district. Meanwhile, Dr. Longri Kichu said the SNCU would cater to the needs of the sick newborns and neonates requiring special attention in the district. “The facility will greatly help in improving health services for newborns thereby reducing infant mortality in the district,” he stated.
