The anticipated reopening date is Tuesday, July 25, in the former Twin Ports Spay Neuter location.

Though the Carroll County school board agreed last week to allow the option of virtual learning on days the public school system must unexpectedly close, that option was not used Monday, when all county public schools were closed due to snow. The Virtual Inclement Weather Day Plan that the school board unanimously approved on Feb. 9 will not go into effect until after Feb. 21, to allow schools to fully prepare.

The program is an expansion of the system’s current virtual program that existed prior to the pandemic, “but on steroids,” Gregg Bricca, director of virtual learning, said at a board of education meeting on Wednesday. More courses will be offered that will allow students to meet the minimum enrollment and graduation requirements to be a full-time virtual student.

While waiting for parents to decide who will opt in for in-person learning four days a week, the system provided attendance numbers for the average amount of hybrid students, the number of class sizes and the number of students on the school bus.
