Here s how you can nominate Missouri s next poet laureate Aarik Danielsen, Columbia Daily Tribune © Courtesy Missouri Arts Council Karen Craigo Missouri residents have the opportunity to set poetry or poets, at least  in motion, during the nomination process for the state’s sixth poet laureate.  Nominations are open through March 22 and can be made via the Missouri Arts Council website. Poets can nominate themselves or be nominated by another person. The state’s current poet laureate, Springfield’s Karen Craigo, will complete her two-year term this year. The first poet to receive the distinction was mid-Missouri resident Walter Bargen, who held the title from 2008-10.
