Slamming the central government for delaying the decision on holding CBSE Class 12 exams, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra reiterated her demand for cancelling the exams. The mental health of children is as important as their physical well being, she said.
The Congress general secretary said expecting children who are already under immense pressure to sit for their exams wearing all sorts of protective gear for hours at a stretch day after day is "insensitive and unfair".
Her remarks come even as a crucial meeting called by the Ministry of Education is underway to decide on the pending exams.

The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday announced postponement of class 12 public examination, complete lockdown on Sundays and effective April 20, night curfew from 10 pm to 4 am.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has sought postponement of the upcoming CBSE board exams for classes 10 and 12 amid the surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. Singh has written to Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', pointing to the prevailing situation and stressing that it would only be appropriate that a decision is taken forthwith to postpone class 10 and 12 board examinations.

The Madhya Pradesh government has declared summer holidays for two months for students of Classes 1 to 8 in the state in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety and health of students, state School Education Minister Indar Singh Parmar said on Wednesday.
However, all government teachers of Classes 1 to 8 shall not leave the headquarters (of their posting) during the summer holidays till the completion of board exams as they may be required for duty and other related works, he said.

Amid a worrying spike in coronavirus cases across the country, the demand for cancellation of offline examinations for Class 10 and 12 board examinations has been growing rapidly.
A parents' association has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting CBSE, state boards and others to evaluate students via internal assessment instead of physical examinations.
The India Wide Parents Association also added in their letter that as teachers and students have not been vaccinated yet, there is a higher chance of infection. The letter also claimed that medical infrastructure across the country is collapsing.

CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 exam schedules 2021 will be declared on Tuesday, February 2 by the Central Board of Secondary Education. This was announced by the Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank'. The CBSE Higher Secondary and Senior Secondaryexam schedule 2021 will be declared on the website https://www.cbse.gov.in/newsite/index.html. The exams for both CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 for academic session 2020-2021 will be held between May 4 to June 10, 2021. These exams will be in the offline mode. The results of the CBSE board exams of Class 10 and Class 12 will be out by July 10. As many as 30 lakh students are going to appear for the CBSE Class 10,12 board exams 2021.
