Shivakumar said he stood by the partys stand on caste census, but he would also want the government to consider the demand of communities for a scientific approach to the survey. “Many communities are fighting for a reservation proportional to their population. These demands cut across the party lines. However, some communities have said they have not been contacted before the census and are asking for a scientific caste census.”
