Call to halt relocation of NW Clover factory to Durban

The Chamber of Commerce in North West has appealed to government for
assistance to halt Clover s plans to move its cheese factory to Durban.

It is
asking the local government to draw up infrastructure plans to repair roads and
sort out water supply problems.
The
chamber s Andre Coertzen says if this happens, the dairy giant might rethink
plans to relocate its biggest cheese-making plant from Lichtenburg to
Queensburgh.
He says
Clover s relocation costs would be in the region of R1.5 billion.
More than
300 people also stand to lose their jobs. ....
