Beaches are totally oiled, they re just dark. that s not the case. what s important to note they have, however, found small tar balls, clumps of oil in the 100-mile stretch in places. that s what people here are concerned about. there could be more connelling their way. they are saying, come on down, we have it in charge. one of people in charge of that is here with us. thanks for your time today. you ve had a heads up from all the other cities to the west of you. what s the most important lesson that s being implemented in this community. recover and response. so far, no beaches in florida have been closed. response is really the most important thing. you talk about it because some of the tar balls that came today, as soon as they land, another light sand comes over it and all of a sudden tonight digs further and further in there. that s why it s so important, isn t it? absolutely. we re deploying equipment to be able to dig and churn that sand up that has tar balls that was ....

This cane like grass that grows in clumps, basically these islands of cane, and when you look at it, shane, you can see some discoloration, is that mud or is that oil? this area right here has been impacted already, it was impacted probably two to three weeks ago, not as heavy as some of the other areas, but it was impacted. reporter: basically they re using the dual boom system, first they lay down that sort of hard plastic boom, it s either yellow or red, it s designed to repel that oil and then they bring in the absorb bent boom which actually works in a partnership with the natural wave action, right? basically as the tide is bringing the oil in and it get into the grass, when the tide falls, the oil comes back out with it, instead of letting that oil leave this area and go impact another area, they ll catch it basically with the absorb bent boom, it absorbs the ....
