More than a Million People were murdered there. The purpose of todays hearing is to commemorate these grave anniversaries to remember those we lost and honor those who are still with us. As well as the obstacles that many minority communities continue to face to this day. And in exercising their fundamental right to vote. Tomorrow we will be holding a ceremony to honor our dear friend and colleague and our former chairman, Elijah Cummings.
