Blaine County has announced it has launched a new emergency alert capability that will permit police, fire, and other emergency officials to send Integrated Public Alert Warnings (IPAWS).
“Every property in the county is susceptible to flooding at any given time, we have ground water issues, we have surface water flooding, rain on snow events, we could have a rainstorm come through and we could even see mud slides in the spring,” said Hilt.
When severe weather approaches, the National Weather Service offices in South Carolina may issue outlooks, advisories, watches or warnings to inform the public about what threats they may face. It’s critical to be able to receive these messages in time, and from trustworthy sources.
