The Crown says Kyle Rowe was in the thick of a fight which left his friend Codi Wilkinson dead. Rowe says he remembers almost nothing.

Rowe is on the witness list and down to give evidence later in the trial, but the court heard from Dr Joshua Smith​ on Tuesday. Smith said he treated Rowe at Palmerston North Hospital on the night of September 12, 2019 – the night the Crown says Wilkinson was murdered. He went immediately to Rowe instead of waiting for a nurse, as it was clear Rowe was badly hurt. He had blood on his head and clothes, which likely came from a 10cm cut on his head, Smith said. The skull could be seen through the head cut and clotted blood, while he also had a cut finger, and sore neck and leg.

The fifth defendant, Jason David Signal​, is not a Mobster.
