The St. Petersburg Police Department is giving out free steering wheel locks to certain car owners as they continue to respond to a high number of Hyundai and Kia car thefts the last few months.

Sgt. Cody Lance said in the last two weeks, they have worked 36 car thefts, 12 of them involved a Hyundai or Kia. By 11:30 Tuesday morning, the last of the 108 locks were given out.
