US-based Carlyle Group and Luxembourg-based CVC Capital Partners are believed to be the front runners in the race to acquire Trendcell Sdn Bhd, the owner and operator of high-end supermarket chain Jaya Grocer, say sources, after outbidding at least two other offers. Revenue rose 9.8% to RM1.22 billion, from RM1.11 billion previously. In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, it said the increase in revenue — excluding one-off non-recurring contracts — was mainly due to higher sales recorded by its data and data centre product groups, which grew 11% and 8.3% respectively. “All core customer groups also contributed positively to overall revenue growth in FY20, led by contributions from the retail and wholesale customer groups,” it said. KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 24): The main index at Bursa Malaysia struggled to keep its gains at the midday break Wednesday after index-linked glove makers faced selling pressure as Malaysia's vaccination programme kicked off. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 4.62 points to 1,569.67. The index had earlier risen to a high of 1,581.55. Losers led gainers by 500 to 298, while 756 counters traded unchanged. KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 24): AEON Co (M) Bhd’s net profit for the financial year (FY) ended Dec 31, 2020, fell to RM41.42 million from RM109.229 million registered last year. Revenue also declined 10.7% to RM4.05 billion from RM4.54 billion previously, due to lower revenue from the retailing segment and property management services by RM387.6 million and RM100 million, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.
