They say anybody in line by 5:00 p.m. can cast an in person absentee ballot. there were still 400 people waiting. we were told campaign workers started handing out water and granola bars because it s only reasonable to except they might be thirsty and tired and hungry and maybe furious by the time they got to vote. and frankly because they are heros for finishing what they started. maybe it s just me, but i did not grow up with the expectation that casting a ballot was supposed to be an endurance sport. it s not supposed to be an obstacle course. voting is a good and right and civic thing to do, but we do not expect it to be a matter of personal heroism. not on this scale. not for thousands of people. not because one republican governor says that is the way he wants it to be. i ll have steve kornaki here in a moment. but joining us now is a combatant in the current fight right now if nl. scott is the executive director ....

Conservative republicans, frustrated that these votes are still happening. that people who even if they are anti-abortion themselves, they want to focus on economic issues, but the house can t seem to stop itself. in the house, you re obviously a known combatant on this issue on the pro choice side. do you see signs of frustration? even from people who disagree with you? i honestly don t care if they re frustrated. only six republicans voted against the bill. whining doesn t count in the end. you know, 222 people voted for it. that s the bill that s on record. that s the bill that will go down in history. and if it were a straight up and down vet and not a vote that required a super majority, that bill will have been passed and been sent over to the senate. so whine they might, but it s women that really suffer when they do that kind of legislation. so, you know, i really am not that concerned about their feelings until it turns into a real uprising against the ridiculous war on wome ....

an interesting outcome. this may be good news. plus, a school district that pays struggling students to go to summer school. talk about outrage. we re going to chat about that this morning. we re going to begin with the olympics and the night that was filled with so much promise and ended in so much disappointment for the u.s. men s gymnastics team after finishing first in the trials, they entered the finals last night as favorites. but a fall on the floor, two costly errors in the pommel horse and a fall on the vault undid team usa. halfway through six rotations they were in last place. last. but they rallied at the last minute to finish in fifth place. better, but still not great. amanda davies joins us from london. they were talking so big going into the finals. what happened? i think the mood in london at the olympic park today probably reflects the mood of the u.s. men s gymnastics team. gray and gloomy is the best way to sum it up. they were hotly tipped ....
