Final budget meets all requests, leaves $1.5 million in reserves
Lawrence County Commissioners approved the county’s 2021 budget Thursday, awarding each department its requested budget, while also maintaining a healthy reserve.
Heading into the 2021 budget year, the county has a reserve of about $1.5 million. After expenditures, the county is projecting to maintain about $1.4 million in its general fund.
“We have three months worth of reserves,” said Bob Senninger, presiding commissioner. “That means if nothing comes in for three months, we can keep going. That’s a positive for a new year.”
With sales tax revenue up drastically over 2019, the county was able to move forward with a 2 percent raise for its employees. ....
