Delhi's annual butterfly census has documented a total of 75 butterfly species in the city's seven biodiversity parks. Notably, the census recorded the first geographical record of the rare Blank Swift butterfly in the Aravalli Biodiversity Park. The Plain Tiger was the most frequently sighted species, with a count of 1,119 individuals. The census, conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Environment Management of Degraded Ecosystems and the Delhi Development Authority, aims to assess butterfly species, their population, and habitat suitability.

The first butterfly survey program of the museum was on Saturday jointly organized by Bhopal Birds and Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal. The purpose of this survey was to identify the butterfly species found in the museum premises. This survey was based on the Citizen Science Initiative.

Early rainfall and pre-monsoon activities have transformed the Thar Desert of Jaisalmer district into a lush green landscape, attracting a variety of butterfly species. According to local nature enthusiasts, around 45 species of butterflies are currently thriving in the district. The timely rainfall has enabled local grasses and shrubs to flourish, providing ample breeding grounds for butterflies and moths to breed successfully in greater numbers.

The survey was conducted in collaboration with Madhya Pradesh Biodiversity Board, Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal, Bhopal Birds and VNS Nature Saviour on Sunday.
