The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have given the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led Lagos State Government till Wednesday, May 30, 2023 to obey court order and remove all the barricades and armed policemen stationed at the premises of offices of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) or face industrial action. The unions said it would be left with no option than to mobilize its members to embark on industrial strikes in the state if the government fails to meet the ultimatum.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has raised the alarm that Nigerian security agencies are profiling and abducting Igbo people leaving or returning to Nigeria. The separatist group alleged that such arrests have been going on at the international airports in Lagos and Abuja. The group said that Igbo people are being profiled for supporting IPOB's call for a referendum to determine agitation for Biafra which was occasioned by “neglect, discrimination and unfair treatment of Igbos in Nigeria”.
