Portage Fire Department - fire on Deerfield Ave. PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Portage fire officials responded to a fire Tuesday afternoon at a home in the 5700 block of Deerfield St. that left nearly $100,000 in damage. They were called just before 4:30 p.m. and when crews arrived, they discovered flames coming from the rear of the structure.  Residents of the home had all made it out safely. No injuries were reported. Comstock fire department (photo by John McNeil) KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Comstock fire officials are reporting no injuries after a detached garage caught fire Saturday. The Charter Township of Comstock Fire and Rescue responded to the fire just before 4 p.m. at 5452 Comstock Avenue. Officials report finding the garage and a car parked outside on fire upon arrival.  Crews arrived on scene within four minutes and quickly extinguished the fire. Comstock fire officials were assisted by the Kalamazoo Township Fired Department and fire itself remains under investigation.
