Judge rejects jailed civil servant's plea


A judge has rejected pleas by a former senior official at the Education ministry, who is serving a jail term for theft of public funds, to be released on bond due to bad health.

Ex-Education Officials Jailed for 7 Years

Two former officials of the Ministry of Education have on March 12 been sentenced to seven and half years in prison by a Nairobi court.

The two, Kepha Oseko Mareki and Perminus Njoroge Kamau, were former accountants at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. They were found guilty of embezzling Ksh2.5 million.
Nairobi Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi while sentencing the two, said that they failed to comply with the laid down procedures.

Former Ugenya MP's wife jailed for two years over public funds theft

Summary
Ms Concelia Aoko Ondiek, who was acting director of secondary and tertiary education was jailed last week by chief magistrate Lawrence Mugambi after ruling that she was a repeat offender.
Her co-accused- Ms Christine Wegesa Chacha, who was a senior education officer was ordered to pay a fine of Sh1 million or serve one year in jail, in default.
A former Ministry of Education official has been jailed for two-and-a-half years without the option of a fine for stealing Sh1.5 million in public funds.
Ms Concelia Aoko Ondiek, who was acting director of secondary and tertiary education was jailed last week by chief magistrate Lawrence Mugambi after ruling that she was a repeat offender.
