Accident was a 737, that was many years ago and several generations of aircraft ago. that was a structural failure of the fuselage itself. this fuselage is a composite structure and i don t see i evidence of the fuselage itself being structurally damaged. this is a failure of either the installation or the mechanical build of that door itself. so that s where i would start looking right away, is those fastening points. you can see in the photos if you look very closely, there s four little attachment points. those attachment points that stick out are where the door is fastened to the fuselage. and you can see that those are intact. so the first place i would like is how is it secured, was it actually secured properly. the other thing i would look at is, was there some maintenance where the seats were just installed, was the configuration recently changed, because when they change the configuration of the seating, that door comes out for maintenance access so they can get that done, and ....

Deactivated and paneled over. on the outside, it looks like an emergency exit door. on the inside, it s not an emergency exit. it was paneled up, looking like any other row in the airplane. so it s basically an option, a modification so to speak, for those airlines that don t need that door. so, some airlines, if they needed that door, would have the emergency slide, right? is that what they would have their, because it s so high off the ground? yes. that s correct. that is what it would be normally used for, but but not in this case. with a smaller configuration like this, it s not needed on this type of configuration. 737 max overall, it s not the first time there have been issues with this kind of playing, jeff. what has happened over the past few years with this aircraft? well, your viewers need to be cautioned that this has nothing to do with the 737 max design issue that involved this stability control computer ....

The plane will it let s folks know how many doors they have to have. if they order the configuration where they don t need quite so many exit doors, they can say when they order it, just put the panel on the inside. on the outside, it is still a tour. it will fall into question whether they installed the same kind of door locks and put the panel over it. we ve all heard, you can t lose a door. the door can t be opened in flight which of course, they can. or they had another system to simply put this door patch in place and it was improperly installed or they had some sort of a maintenance or mechanical accident. we ve had situations, not here, where there were bolts incorrectly placed. so whether it is an actual door with an internal panel or some ....
