Good they are. a lot of the u.s. s latest military equipment on display out there as well, including the p.a. we have talked about this a bit, and you said it would be a mistake not to keep looking on land despite this huge deployment now and real focus in the south indian ocean. why is that? i firmly believe that. i m not sure the configuration was, but i m almost certain that the slide rafts in a ditching situation are provision with emergency locater transmitters. these elts, when they hit salt water, are activated. once they are activated they should send a signal to emergency frequency and a satellite, which would give them latitude and longitude. we don t have that information. so when they hit the water, they don t just send a ping in the water you have to listen for with a ship or something or a plane. they would send a signal to a satellite. ....

Elts not activating with the salt water, the slide rafts would have them in them. that for you is a big red flag, why those elts. we ve heard from a number of pilots today or folks we re actually going to have a piece about elts later on. a lot of people raising the question, the elts why didn t they go off because there are multiple ones. there is. and the slide rafts, i don t know how this airplane is configured. but there could be some that were in the overhead bins, too, strapped down. david gallo, excuse me david soucie, are you skeptical about this debris given the amount of time? because of the amount of time, i m concerned if it was a wing, it s a tapered wing. and the center spars of that wing are very heavy compared to the tip of that wing. so the fact that it would be flat enough to be seen in that configuration concerns me a little bit. i would think that wing would have tilted toward the heavy side, which could keep it afloat but it wouldn t be in that attitude. it ....

And the slide rafts, i don t know how this airplane is configured. but there could be some that were in the overhead bins, too, strapped down. david gallo, excuse me david soucie, are you skeptical about this debris given the amount of time? because of the amount of time, i m concerned if it was a wing, it s a tapered wing. and the center spars of that wing are very heavy compared to the tip of that wing. so the fact that it would be flat enough to be seen in that configuration concerns me a little bit. i would think that wing would have tilted toward the heavy side, which could keep it afloat but it wouldn t be in that attitude. it would be in a much different attitude. so i m a little skeptical it would have been able to continue to float for that long. and david gallo, it looks calm out there now and what we ve heard from folks the last 24 hours it was calm. but as we saw a short time ago in that video taken last year, around this area, it s notorious for having big waves, stro ....

There may be two in two different overhead panels in addition to elt. depend upon the configuration that malaysia had. there may be others seated in life rafts and pockets in life rafts. david gallo, what would be floating at this point? you know better than anybody about the seas and your involvement intricately involved in the air france recovery which debrises was found five days later, the aircraft wasn t found until two years later. but given the tough seas in that area and the amount of time that s passed, what are we looking at do you think? hard to say, anderson. it s all about the buoyancy. if there s air pockets and kept the water out and materials lighter than the water below. so we won t know until we see. there s always a surprise. so i wouldn t make a prediction like that. it s just hard to know. mary, are you optimistic about this find? we had this discussion ....

Off acars and cease that information from going to the ground or turning off the transponder. is that sophisticated or something as a pilot you would know? the acars is not something that we generally utilize as far as changing the configuration. any time we do anything, we know we are not getting a transmission from it. it can receive signals from standard communication people or from the satellite. you can possibly try to fix that, but as far as disabling it, that s not a function you would consider performing. it is possible. it can be done. you know this part of the world, that s the question to les. when we talk about the possibility of this flight trying to get as far as the fuel could have taken it towards the yemen and kyrgyzstan region. ....
