Democratic economists. i m curious. is this just a confluence of events, a perfect storm that s leading to this inflation, or from the way you look at it is there something that policymakers could do to lessen the impact of inflation? because they sure as heck can t can t do anything about the $2 trillion that s been on the sidelines and this pent-up demand that i don t care who the president was, that would be pushing inflation upward. but i m wondering, with all of these outside things happening, what can lawmakers do? what can biden do? sure. well, first of all, joe, they re not really all outside factors or things that a perfect storm or things that just rained down from heaven. this is highly a self-inflicted problem, not just by us but by the rest of the world. i say with regret that everything president biden just said in that news clip you just showed was basically wrong in terms of what is causing inflation. the problems with the supply line is to not cause ....

Way in which wealth is distributed in this country. well, that speaks to your book, right? the confluence of race and class that happens in this country. and look, one thing that i was talking to one of our producers about, when you hear people say the latino vote, you know, as a black woman i vote the same outrage when i hear the black vote. there are latino voters, black voters, but not one monolith. and particularly in the latino community, there are geopolitics that are involved and people s preferences, political preferences here in the country. what is the message that the democratic party specifically should take away as we see some of these shifts in pockets of the country, some of these people shift towards trump republicans? i think that there is actually astoundingly good news here. there is a lot of reasons to worry, but really very good news here. and the good news here is ....

Are not in place yet, and it would take months if not years to change any of that. but progressives are being blamed for this right now in the moment. is it a confluence of incidents, or is it just is it a part of it because they re being more lax. we should be clear there s not a causal relationship or evidence that these progressive causes have caused a surge in crime. violent crime has surged in a lot of cities that don t have progressive prosecutors. we know the calls to defund police were not heeded in most cities. and those are still seeing that surge and rise in crime. not only are folks seeing the kind of wave and wedge and blame progressive prosecutor, but they re also seeing a weigh to hem in the democratic party. but also have a democratic party who is seeing president biden, embracing folks like mayor adams and leading more on tat hard on ....
