It was a really important moment for her and one that we just feel so blessed to be part i d hike to give the phone to debbie because she d like to say some words as well. hi, anderson. it s debbie was er sermann er p sermann schultz. we took turns talking to her and just saying, kirsten talked about going back out with pizza with her husband and we vacationed with mark and gabby the last couple of summers and came up to our house and said, come on, you got to get better because we expect you up in new hampshire this summer. just as i said that, she suddenly struggled to open struggled to open her eyes, you know, first just a little bit, the doctors couldn t believe it, they said this is such a good time and then they sorry, ....
There s a plane. this is such a good time but then mark started encouraging her, gabby, give me a thumbs up if you can see me, touch my ring. if you touch my wedding ring. she started doing that. she started rubbing his arm then he asked her again to give him the thumbs up if she we just kept talking to her and talking to her about the fun we had with her and so then she opened her eyes more. i mean she went from opening her eyes just in slits to opening them almost fully. i mean it wasn t for very long then they closed again, but it was just absolutely anderson, it was the most incredible it was the most incredible experience that i have ever had. congresswoman debbie wasserma wasserman schultz, you re breaking up. ....
Night out with beer and pizza and debbie started talking about taking her to the house in new hampshire and talking about all the things we wanted to do and all of a sudden she started to struggle to open her eyes and mark said open your eyes, gabby, open your eyes and she kept struggling and mark kept encouraging her and within a moment she literally opened her eyes and the doctor was unbelievably excited because it was such great progress and it was something we couldn t imagine we would witness. you could see she was focusing and then mark said, he said, gabby, if you can see me, if you can see me, give us the thumbs up. she didn t only just gave the thumbs up. she literally raised her entire hand. we couldn t stop crying. we were so excited and so just witnessing something we couldn t imagine we were in the room for and it was just one of those moments that life brings you so ....
Rarely and both debbie and i are just we re sitting there in awe of her of her strength and courage and what she was able to communicate to us and it was an extraordinary moment in both of our lives. just so you know viewers on the left side are watching the president and mrs. obama about to board air force one. senator, how long did she keep her eyes open? were her eyes still open when you left? about 30 seconds? how long? yeah. and how long did she keep it open? maybe 30 seconds, maybe 60 seconds. it was just moments that it was it was open and then she you could see she was focusing and then when asked if she could see she responded possley and though it was and the doctor said, you know, after that moment she s like she needs to rest and so, you know, we said our good-byes and said we d be back so it was a moment but ....
