The Laborers Local 773 is holding the 35th annual Edward M. Smith Golf Tournament at Hickory Ridge Golf Course on Thursday, June 17th. Money raised will go to providing scholarship money to local students attending college in the fall. Jerry Womick, who is the business manager for the local says, they ve currently raised about $56,000 for 36 students but hope to surpass that in the coming days. We have several going to community colleges like John A. Logan, who will receive $750 he explains. For a four-year university, it s $1,500. Then to support our local university, anyone going to SIU will get $2,000. ....
