Gas trade associations have taken the state of New York to court over its ban on gas-run stoves and furnaces in new buildings.
The latest rule will require every mobile home gas furnace — and every new residential, non-weatherized gas furnace — to have a minimum annual fuel utilization efficiency (or AFUE) of 95% starting in late 2028.
Gas and construction trade groups say the state does not have the legal ability to enforce the rule.
Its purpose was to protect national security, not to reduce gasoline prices in a political campaign.
