While county and state road crews fought blowing slow in clearing roads Thursday, the City of Washington’s street employees productively removed snow with few issues. Maintenance and Construction Superintendent JJ Bell says the nine-employee crew was out at about 1 p.m. and finished around 6 p.m. Thursday, and some employees were out early Thursday morning clearing the downtown and areas of drifted snow. Couple Days Left to Drop Off Christmas Trees in Washington
The City of Washington is offering its annual live Christmas tree disposal. Maintenance and Construction Superintendent JJ Bell tells KCII that a tree drop off barricade has been set up on the southeast corner of the downtown square, and will be available through January 10th. For those who can’t drop off a tree downtown, Bell says city employees are driving around town picking up trees that are placed on street corners through January 10th. He asks not to place the trees near fire hydrants. Bell reminds residents to be sure to clean off any decorations before disposing of a tree.
