Kirinyaga has been highlighted among the counties with the lowest transparency when it comes to making their budgets public, in a recent report.
The survey titled the
 
County Budget Transparency Survey 2020, stated that the county had an index of zero as it did not publish any budget document.
Also ranking low were the counties of Narok, Taita Taveta, and Wajir in the report by the International Budget Partnership Kenya (IBP Kenya).
On the other hand, West Pokot County was ranked the best with an index of 73 out of 100 points, having published all the assessed budget documents. Laikipia county was second with 71 points. ....

World Bank Pays Electricity Bills for 26 Kenyan Companies

The World Bank has provided funding for 26 water service companies based in different counties in Kenya as support to settle operations bills including electricity bills.
The Chairman of the Health Committee of the Council of Governors Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, stated that the money would help the companies remain in operation in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Water utilities have continued to accrue operational bills since the first wave of Covid-19 in the country. This has led to a decline in revenue which has affected service delivery. ....

President Uhuru Kenyatta has landed another crucial role in the African Union just days after taking over as East African Community Chairman. 
President Kenyatta will be starting his term as the Chairperson of the African Union Peace and Security Council on Monday, March 1, Foreign Affairs CS Raychelle Omamo announced. 
The AU PSC is a decision-making organ that deals with the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts.

Judging by the headlines carried by international media houses touching on Kenyan affairs, it is safe to say that the country has secured itself a higher slot on most corrupt countries in the world.
In fact, On December 9, the country was downgraded by seven points on the Transparency International corruption perception index(CPI) from position 144 in 2018 to 137 in 2019. 
The ranking was as a result of runaway corruption whose cases are still long-winding in courts and at worst, have attracted political heckling.
