according to a witness sam nunnburg, mueller s investigators have asked about possible payoffs on the president s behalf. in your fbi interview with mueller s team, they were asking about payments to women? they were asking if i knew anything about it. they were asking uf you knew anything about payments to women. but i think it s pretty obvious they re looking into. this in my voluntary interview, they wanted to know if i had ever not about specific payments. if i ever heard of anything like that going on to which i never have. gloria allred who is suing the president for defamation on behalf of former the apprentice contestant summer zervos also accused the president of sexual assault. first, your reaction to the amended complaint today from michael avenatti making a somewhat similar claim to what your client made. well, speaking for myself and not for my client. yeah. i can say that this is an interesting approach. whether or not he is successful with a claim of
summer zervos, but also other woman coming forward, saying these are 100% fabrication. summer zervos says she has been defamed, hurt emotionally and financially. this case is being allowed to go forward. the trump team tried to argue he has immunity from lawsuits in state courts, tried to get the case postponed and tried to argue those repeated statements of denials were opinions that were protected as political speech. the judge dismissed all that. now his lawyers have ten days to respond. athena jones, m.j. lee, thanks vsh much. want to bring in cnn analyst and former federal prosecutor laura coates. let s try to move through it quickly if we can. first, in dealing with stormy daniels and karen mcdougal, what s noise here and what s legally important? the polygraph test, noise or legally important? reporter: noise. most of the time the polygraph results will not be admissible in court. in the court of public opinion, it buttresses the argument that
she was duped, she had no idea what she was getting into, her lawyer was probably playing both sides if the allegations are true and she entered into a contract without knowing what she was doing. stormy daniels is very different. her argument is, you know what, there has been violations of that contract that frees her from it. both are uphill battles and both will have its day in court. of course, if there are physical threats and we ve been told that there were, that could be a whole separate thing and could complicate things as well. i want to ask about summer zervos. this could be the more serious legal issue for the president. this is a defamation case that a state judge has ruled can go forward. what s the jeopardy here for the president? reporter: this is absolutely the biggest hurdle for the president of the united states. you have a court in new york saying a sitting president, an incumbent, can be sued civilly in state court for things he did when he wasn t president. las
owns the national enquirer. she says she was paid $150,000 but the publication never ran the story. this is a practice commonly known as catch and kill. she said that, in addition to that, that the company has threatened her with financial ruin. so this is the second woman now that we know of that wants to take legal action in order to be able to tell her story about donald trump. both of these cases deal with consensual relationships and non-disclosure agreement. this other case, athena jones, not consensual at all. it has to do with former apprentice contestant summer zervos. she says trump assaulted her in 2007. she said unwanted kisses, at one point kissed her aggressively, touched her breast. she made these allegations in october of 2016, close to the election. that very same day, candidate trump denied the allegation, continued to deny in on twitter, campaign rallies and debates. not just allegations made by
reality tv stars. these are the three women with lawsuits now involving the president of the united states. you know stormy daniels. she s the former adult film star fighting to have her nondisclosure agreement ruled invalid so she can talk openly about her alleged affair with the president. there s also former playboy playmate karen mcdougal. she s also suing for the right to speak about the alleged affair she had with the president. now there s former apprentice contestant summer zervos. during the campaign, she accused the president of making unwanted sexual advances. a judge has ruled her defamation lawsuit against presidnt trump can move forward. joining us now, david gregory and our chief political correspondent dana bash. dana, the president is over at the white house today, but presumably all three of these cases weighing heavy i will on his mind. you would think. i talked to two sources who speak with him just before coming on who insist that it s not, that he considers it
