BRASILIA, Brazil–Three New York Air National Guard airmen spent April 18 to 25 sharing their knowledge of space operations and their organization with Brazilian airmen assigned to that country’s Aerospace Operations Command.
The crash killed one of the three sailors on the plane, Lt. Hyrum Hanlon, of Airborne Command and Control Squadron VAW-120. The two others were rescued by Maryland State Police, who found them injured and on top of the partly-submerged wreck.

Navy divers recovered the plane by cutting it into sections and preparing each section to be lifted with a sling. A crane lifted each section out of the water, and barges transported the aircraft pieces offsite.
