While in most cases doctors can only prescribe up to a seven-day supply of opiates if it’s the patient’s first prescription, there’s an exemption in Utah law that allows for a 30-day supply after surgeries. HB15 would remove that exemption and only allow doctors to subscribe a larger supply in complicated cases.
