Severe weather that we are keeping a close watch on. the national hurricane center now monitoring several tropical disturbances in the atlantic. forecasters believe there s a high chance one of those will form into a tropical depression. cnn s chad myers joining me now. it s been a slow start to hurricane season, although i know noaa says we re still expecting big things. it could actually change this week. absolutely. we haven t even made it through halfway. we re about 35% to 40% through what we would consider the main area of convection, the areas of thunderstorm activity across the atlantic. but the waters are still technically very, very warm out there. the big area here, the red jelly bean, there s an 80% of that growing into something likely with a name really as we work our way into the weekend. these are five days out. these aren t immediate storms. they re just trying to get their action together. the water s one or two degrees above normal. watch the storm here. there it i ....

Is actually occurring about 24 hours prior earlier than what they had originally anticipated. so as we ve been monitoring the pearl river in downtown jackson, capital of mississippi, we have seen this projection move earlier and earlier in time. so this is where we re hat, 35.11 feet, that puts it at moderate flood stage. but we expecthat, 35.11 feet, that puts it at moderate flood stage. but we expect the crest to occur at 36 feet. and that will put those homes in jeopardy from flooding unfortunately. you can see the flood rivers that follow along the pearl river bisecting the central portions of the state exiting toward the gulf of mexico, these follow along some of the major rivers and tributaries beialask cros across the state. and a few showers will bubble up over the day and that will allow for convection or showers and storms to develop. ....

Allison chinchar with more. good morning. yes, it s going to be a very active next couple of days especially for the state of texas. we re keeping an eye on this potential tropical cyclone four. it doesn t look like all that much at this moment, but it s trying to get itself together. we are starting to see the convection of thunderstorms around it begin to increase in activity. that is a favorable sign for development, but right now sustained winds just at 35 miles per hour. the forecast does call for this to become a named tropical storm in the next 24 hours. as it continues to make its trek off to the northwest, likely making landfall somewhere along that texas/mexico border before slowly creeping inward. now, if it does, in fact, get named today. the next name on the list is danielle. the biggest concern with this storm is going to be moisture. there s a ton of it. all of that tropical moisture is going to surge into areas of texas, namely eastern texas in the short term. but tex ....

Different systems that will be bringing rain across texas. here is a look. this is potential tropical cyclone four currently sustained winds at about 35 miles per hour. but we have started to notice in the last couple of hours a lot more of that convection, that thunderstorms really beginning to build. the question is does it have enough time to strengthen before it s expected to make landfall? likely somewhere right around the texas/mexico border in about the next 24 to 36 hours. now, if it does get named, the next name on the list is danielle. regardless of whether it gets named or not, though, it is still expected to bring a tremendous amount of moisture into texas and even some states to the east of it including arkansas and louisiana. but really look at all of that moisture here. but again, this is just one system. we also have a secondary system that will bring flooding across the state in the coming days. right now that system is located across portions of arizona and new mexico ....
