The shape of the corona was unexpected. i expect to spend time looking at the corona today. looking at it, but looking at it safely. what s your advice for first-time eclipse users? i would say have those total shades. if you re in the total, the first hour and 20 minutes or so will be a partial eclipse. to see the moon slide across the sun you will need approved solar filters. during totality, the filters come off the filters, you can remove the shades and look at totality with the naked eye before that, it s extremely important to protect your eyes, and use solar filters. and only a certain swath of the country will get complete totality, correct? that s certainly true. the path of totality, though it s long, spanning coast to ....
