The Peace Corps will begin sending volunteers abroad again later this month, resuming operations after it evacuated 7,000 members from more than 60 countries when the pandemic began. Redeployment will happen in a phased approach, with Zambia and the Dominican Republic receiving the first groups.
Celebrated annually, Peace Corps Week commemorates March 1, 1961, the day that President John F. Kennedy established the agency. The celebratory week honors the important ways the Peace Corps fosters connections and contributes to meaningful change - both in the United States and around the world.
