City of Tifton calls off city-wide mask mandate, cites âprocedural errorâ

In a press release Thursday, the City of Tifton said that the city-wide mask mandate passed on Dec. 14 did not meet city charter requirements, effectively canceling the mask mandate passed on Monday.
According to the City of Tifton Charter, âan ordinance shall not be adopted the same day it is introduced, except for emergency ordinances.
This means that the ordinance requiring masks will be brought back before Mayor and Council for final consideration at the Council Meeting on Dec. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. ....
