Florida state officials and the College Board say students in Florida may be able to take the Advanced Placement course in psychology after all.
The College Board says schools in Florida should not offer its Advanced Placement course in psychology to students, citing guidance from state officials to exclude content on sexual orientation and
College Board officials wrote that the state will still allow districts to teach AP Psychology, but teachers won’t be allowed to discuss gender identity or sexual orientation as part of the coursework.
The department told Florida superintendents that teaching content related to sexual orientation and gender identity is illegal.
The College Board announced it was refusing to change the content of its psychology course for the state’s Department of Education.
