The Art Major mare Crazy Cute overcame a "sloppy" track, a cool early evening near 50 degrees, and a rough two-move journey to win the $13,000 featured distaff pace at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono in 1:55.1 during the Sunday (May 30) card. Crazy Cute tucked into fourth leaving, then had to come uncovered to try to catch pacesetter Caviart Cherie, who had gotten away with a :59 half. But driver George Napolitano Jr., who had five wins on the card, got his mare to pace her own last half in a swift :55.2 in the muck to catch the pacesetter by a length. Trainer Gilbert Garcia-Herrera also shar...

San Domino A and Marloe Hanover proved victorious in Sunday afternoon's (May 9) co-featured $16,200 pacing events at Harrah's Philadelphia. In the week's top event for pacing males, San Domino A and driver George Napolitano Jr. angled out of the pocket to challenge pacesetter Pyro at the end of a :27.1 first quarter, but ultimately were forced back into the pocket with a lap to go. The eight-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding was boxed up the backstretch in pursuit of a :26.4 third sectional, but reached through the open stretch to prevail by a nose over Pyro in 1:50.4. Carlisimo rallied off...

Soho Burning Love A delivered a decisive 1:50.1 score in Sunday afternoon's (May 2) $22,500 winners-over distaff pacing feature at Harrah's Philadelphia—just the second appearance at the riverside raceway from the seven-year-old mare. Soho Burning Love A used two moves to achieve control of the terms out of her assigned outside post—one to float into third on the first turn, and a second to seize control from early pacesetter Crazy Cute just beyond a :27.1 first quarter. And after the daughter of Auckland Reactor N reached the lead, there was simply no catching her. "She was awesome, as g...

The perennial “king” of the driving colony at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, George Napolitano Jr., is serving early notice that he will be tough to dethrone in 2021, posting his second-straight card of posting six victories on Sunday (March 14). The double sextet now gives George a 38-31 advantage over his brother Anthony, and quick math shows the pair has won 41 percent of all races held at the mountain track during the first 12 days of the meet. Two from George’s six-bagger came for trainer Gilbert Garcia-Herrera, who now has nine visits to the Pocono winner's circle this year—on...
