The water has to go somewhere if those channels are blocked it can get out on the streets and go through some of the community. those are at risk. and then we do of course have miles of very nice beaches. do not go near the water we are making sure everyone in all beach communities know those waves are going to be eight 10 feet for their places in orange county could be as high as 15 feet. we are urging everyone to just stay away, give mother nature an opportunity to play, spend her out and in 24 hours we will be in a position back to normal. arthel: mr. any way to shore up the mountain areas you mention are vulnerable? we have been doing that. with the sandbags i mentioned. we have crews out scouring those creek beds and riverbeds to make sure there is debris free as much as possible. we ve been doing that for some ....
Survive this. the creek turned into a raging river, and anybody driving through here, i mean, you would have been swept away. it was probably 200 miles an hour. reporter: ana, let me show you the damage that we are seeing this morning. we re here in washington crossing. it got so bad on saturday night, the floodwaters actually buckled the road here, washed away part of this bridge. there is debris scattered everywhere. a lot of the roads here are also blocked. just a few minutes ago we actually spoke with a resident here going back to these ongoing search efforts. he said this community is banning together organically. they want to help and trying to find those kids. what they re doing, they re walking along the creek beds here trying to find anything at this point. obviously that is the top priority here among residents, ....
But survived. here s what he told us. so you were clinging onto trees? oh, yeah. wow. i didn t want to die. what was going through your mind? saving my daughter. you know, the speed of the water just pulled us down, pulled us away from the road and onto the side of the road. the side where there isn t normally a creek filled so high we couldn t stand. it got to the point i couldn t get off the shoulder onto the road, it was like fighting against waves. reporter: and jose, this was certainly a fast-moving storm that dumped a whole lot of rain in just a short amount of time. in fact, there were some motorists who were already on the roadway, and they just didn t have time to turn around, so they had to abandon their vehicles. and as you can see behind me, a lot of damaged debris to clean up. we spoke with a resident here kind of walking the creek beds. ....
