Why do we love sad songs? Can they heal us?
A study by Yale University shows that listening to sad songs might be a form of virtual contact which helps people feel accepted, understood and less lonely. ‘The feelings of connection that arise from listening to sad music might have a positive impact on mental health and emotional wellbeing,’ says Dr Tara Venkatesan, cognitive scientist, who was part of the study
