A majority of the officers retire in their early fifties and PBOR retire at an early age group of 36 – 45 years. Being in the prime years of their life and having been groomed over the years with a result-oriented culture, these veterans seek avenues to rehabilitate themselves in a second career. In a bid to facilitate jobs for the army veterans, the Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) was set up and in the last several years, the organisation has been able to provide second career opportunities to over 55,000 PBOR and 1,000 officers.
