Work on the bridge has restarted following an agreement between the Panamanian government and the Chinese joint venture building the bridge.
An addendum was signed by the public works ministry and the consortium, ratifying changes to reduce capex and resume works.
The project has run into numerous problems, including lack of funding and modifications to the original design.
Public works minister Rafael Sabonge confirmed that works on the project will restart this year, but did not provide details on how the government would finance it.
