Australian of the Year winners named; Grace Tame heads all woman line-up
A sexual assault survivor who campaigned for the right to speak about her traumatic experience has been named the 2021 Australian of the Year. Hobart woman Grace Tame, 26, was groomed and raped by her 58-year-old maths teacher Nicolaas Bester when she was in Year 10 at the exclusive all-girl St Michael's Collegiate School in Hobart. Bester served 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to maintaining a relationship with a young person and possession of child exploitation material.
