JUPITER, Fla. (AP) — Major League Baseball extended its deadline for salvaging opening day and a 162-game season until Tuesday at 5 p.m. after a marathon of 13 bargaining sessions
The new deadline is Tuesday at 5 p.m. EST to keep Opening Day set for March 31 after progress at the latest round of negotiations -- but the sides are still reportedly far apart.
Negotiations continued into Tuesday as MLB officials gave management and players one last day to reach an agreement and end the lockout in time to save opening day.
