On February 4, 2022, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cherron Montril Waul, age 44 of Lexington Park. Waul was charged with First Degree Murder

The victim has been positively identified however his name will not be released by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office until next of kin has been notified.

February 17, 2021 Mark Travis Grove, 36 of Mechanicsville On February 16, 2021, at approximately 3:26 a.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 28100 block of Mechanicsville Road in Mechanicsville, for the report of gunshots. Investigation determined an individual fired multiple rounds from a vehicle and fled the scene. Officers in the area located numerous shell casings.
