Danielle Ray Correspondent Seventeen-year-old Emily Hayner is making a big impact this holiday season through her Eagle Scout project, which involves purchasing and giving holiday gifts to youth who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Emily is a charter member of Scouts BSA Troop 7012 for girls in Leominster, which was formed in 2018 after the Boy Scouts of America voting earlier that year to allow girls into the organization. Since retiring in 2011 after working 38 years as the senior custodian at Memorial Middle School in Fitchburg, LeBlanc has been creating replicas of Leominster landmarks, including his latest creation — the historic train depot building in the city’s downtown. “I thought the Leominster depot would be a good subject since it is a landmark in the town and a beautiful building,” he said. Danielle Ray Special to The Landmark STERLING — Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis, in conjunction with his office and the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging, donated and delivered hundreds of new winter jackets on Dec. 8 that will be distributed to seniors in the region. Their first stop was a special delivery to Sterling Senior Center Director Veronica Buckley, who had requested one extra large jacket for a senior in town.
