About 76,000 Sabahans have received their Covid-19 booster shots so far, which accounts for seven per cent of the State’s population, said Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.  
Shahelmey, who is also the appointed director of Sabah’s immunisation programme, said the vaccination rate of booster shots is expected to peak in January next year. He explained that the slow rate was due to many still being ineligible for the booster dose ....

More visitors expected to Mt Kinabalu over festive period

KUNDASANG: The iconic Mount Kinabalu here is expected to see more climbers this month due to the festive and holiday season, says a Sabah Parks officer.
Kinabalu Park assistant manager Januarius Shaftang said they expect more visitors next week based on bookings to climb the mountain.
The mountain was reopened to climbers on Dec 7 with a permitted capacity of 100 climbers per day.
During the recovery movement control order (MCO), 150 climbers were allowed per day while 165 climbers were allowed during the pre-Covid-19 period, said Januarius.
The daily average has not reached 20 climbers since we reopened, but that is because many are still sceptical due to the pandemic. ....

KUNDASANG: The Sabah Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) is targeting to collect 8,000 pints of blood amidst low blood supply at hospitals in the state.
Its president Datuk Asnan Yunus Chung said they had successfully collected more than 7,000 pints of blood from their donation drive so far.
We hope to reach our target in two or three weeks time, he told reporters after presenting food aid to mountain guides at Taman Kinabalu here, today. ....
