The Gainesville Sun Smooth process We don’t see a lot of praise these days in the news, but I would like to applaud the Alachua County Health Department. My 98-year-old mother and I signed up online for the COVID vaccine on Dec. 25. We got a call on Jan. 4 and made an appointment for Jan. 8. Since I was bringing my mother, they let me get the shot, too. Our appointment was at 10:15 at the MLK Center and we already had our paperwork completed when we arrived.
