A university student told staff he ate the fruit on display because he was hungry.
A Maurizio Cattelan banana sculpture was eaten in Seoul by a hungry art student.
The banana was replaced and the museum is not claiming damages
Noh Huyn-soo, a student at Seoul National University, ate Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan's viral artwork "Comedian," consisting of a ripe banana duct-taped to a wall, during a show at Seoul's Leeum Museum of Art.
It was not the first time Italian artist Marizio Cattelan's extremely perishable artwork has been consumed by a ravenous culture vulture. The piece was eaten at a Miami art gallery in 2019, just after it was sold for $120,000.
